    Dear Community, dear colleagues!
Happy to have joined here! Stefan Rosenow, a consultant coming from a German organic research and advisory service formerly linked to the chamber of agriculture in Lower Saxony, Germany, in the 1990s. This service developed through the last 25 years to a fully product financed advisory service under an organic product brand.

I am presently working in and irrigation project in Armenia. We are starting off in a 2 year project to establish a most sustainable, that is mainly self-financed advisory service, supporting the implementation of a water efficient, gravity driven, drip or micro-sprinkler irrigation system in three pilot areas to grow and market selected High Value Agriculture products (fruits, nuts and vegetables. The stakeholders are mainly smallholder farmers with on average less than 1 ha of land. It is also foreseen to support farmers and processors/traders in setting up cooperatives or producer groups with government/donor funds for financing investments in agriculture (including irrigation), processing and marketing and enable land consolidation schemes.

So we will be eager to find out, what suitable experience you have for similar situations and thank you for your web-site and organisation!
    Best, Stefan

I suggest you contact the AFRAS, which is the regional network. I know that in Latinamerica multiple efforts have been done in this sense. In Ecuador there was a project that might be similar to your. Please check here:  https://www.eulaif.eu/en/success-story-modernized-irrigation-project-small-and-medium-farmers
In Chile, there is a law providing funding for irrigation systems, it's been going on for a long while. Some key challenges there is water management at basin level. Supporting water users' organizations should get going from the very beginning of your projects, not only at technical levels but also in their ability to get organized and administer the resource. Social capital in full protagonism! Good luck with your project, and please, keep us posted on your progress!
