Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry DAFF

"The Department provides customer services to the agricultural, food, fisheries and forest industries, and is responsible for developing and implementing policies and programs to ensure the continued competitiveness, profitability and sustainability of these industries. The Department is also responsible for natural resource management and encourages and supports the sustainable use and management of Australia's natural resources.  The Department also implements policies and programs to promote the plant and animal industries in the international markets while encouraging the adoption of new technology and practices." While there is no specifically designated Division for Extension services, the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) provides scientific and economic advice.
