INTA is a public institution in Argentina under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries that is decentralised and has operative and financial autonomy. It was created in 1953 and since then does research into regional and local agricultural innovation systems and value chains to strengthen a competitive and sustainable development of the rural areas in the country.
INTA concentrates on innovation a motor for rural development and capacity building to form an inter-institutional cooperation and transfer knowledge and technology to the agricultural sector.
INTA is present in all regions of the country with among others 15 regional centres, 5 research centres, and 50 experimental farms resulting in over 300 extension units.
