"From the website: The Teacher Education Virtual Consortium comprises 12 universities from 10 countries. It was launched in February 2010 as a result of a formal request from the AfDB-funded project partner institutions. The member institutions collaboratively developed content for 4 Bachelor of Education programs and agreed on a uniform quality assurance mechanism. The AVU Virtual Consortium will build on the existing Teacher Education Consortium and expand progressively to other subjects such as Business Studies, Computer Science, Health Science, Agriculture and Environmental studies. It will also reach out to other relevant Communities of Practice. The AVU is intergovernmental organization created 11 years ago. The AVU has been working since to deliver eLearning contents and to build capacity in francophone, Anglophone and Lusophone Africa. In August 2007,
