ECDPM is a “think and do tank”. Our main goal today is to broker effective development partnerships between the EU and the Global South, particularly Africa. Our mission has two components: (i) to strengthen the policy management capacity of institutions and other players in the countries of Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific and (ii) to improve relations between the European Union and African, Caribbean and Pacific countries, in the framework of the Lomé and Cotonou agreements.
A platform to engage all the key stakeholders to contribute to the development of a practical policy which addresses national extension and advisory service priorities across the three sectors.
The GDN Global Research Project, Supporting Policy Research to Inform Agricultural Policy in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, aims to help shape North-South and South-South debates on agricultural policies. Designed as a policy research project, it seeks to enrich the body of knowledge related to agricultural issues. In doing so, it draws from the existing knowledge base, especially cross-country research findings, in a scientifically rigorous manner yet one which is both timely and easily accessible to policymakers and the informed public.
Session "Linking Knowledge to Policy for Enhanced Performance"
ECDPM is a “think and do tank”. Our main goal today is to broker effective development partnerships between the EU and the Global South, particularly Africa. Our mission has two components: (i) to strengthen the policy management capacity of institutions and other players in the countries of Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific and (ii) to improve relations between the European Union and African, Caribbean and Pacific countries, in the framework of the Lomé and Cotonou agreements. We use a combination of roles and methods to link policies and practice.
When policies, institutions, and markets fail, key public goods and services are undersupplied, incentives are biased against agriculture, consumers pay too much for food, and relationships that create wealth are ruptured. The Policies, Institutions and Markets research program generates knowledge on how these three areas can be improved to help smallholder farmers and poor consumers live better lives.
The Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System (ReSAKSS) is an Africa-wide network of regional nodes supporting implementation of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) . ReSAKSS offers high-quality analyses and knowledge products to improve policymaking, track progress, document success, and derive lessons for the implementation of the CAADP agenda and other agricultural and rural development policies and programs in Africa.
3ie has launched an impact evaluation database. The 3ie impact evaluation database is a resource for policymakers and researchers who are looking for evidence on what works, what doesn’t, and why in development.
The Africa Evidence Network is a community of people who work in Africa and have an interest in evidence, its production (in particular but not exclusively through systematic reviews) and use in decision-making. We include researchers, practitioners and policy-makers from universities, NGOs and governments. Our members include those who work with the Joanna Brigg’s Institute, the Campbell Collaboration, the Cochrane Collaboration, the EPPI-Centre, the Collaboration for Environmental Evidence and others.
