Subdomains and Subsites

Some sections (for a certain topic or a certain event) are visually separated from teh main GFRAS websit by moving them into a sub-site or even a subdomain.

The corporate design remains, but some colors may change (within the three main GFRAS colors) and some header or background images.

Sub-Sites

For example: Annual Meeting 2016

When clicking on the menu item for annual meeting 2016 a new page opens that behaves like a little website on its own. It has its own navigation but looks otherwise the same. The "Home" item in the navigation refers to the event, the very last item is called "GFRAS" and leads the user back to the main GFRAS website.

The advantage of this procedure is that there is no need for extensive sub-navigations and the users have the relevant options for the event directly in front of them.

Other examples:

Global Good Paactice Initiative (here a separate URL www. betterextension.org also points to this subsite)

Sub-Domains

Example: GFRAS Policy compendium

Here a sub-domain is assigned to the product (compendium.g-fras.org) which runs a fully separate installation of Joomla. This allows for a search function that onyl searches within the sub domain, hence within the compendium.

However the sub domain is linked to the main GFRAS website in such as they share the document download component. Like this the compendium documents are also availabe on the main GFRAS website without having to register them twice.
