Menus

Here you find a short description of the different menus used on the frontend and their logic and funtions.

General

If a submenu is constructed, the parent menu item has to be repeated somehow on the submenu level. MS Internet Explorer sets parent menu items on "read only", they are then essentially a menu heading in Joomla language. Other browser don't show this behaviour.

Better Extension

This is the menu for the sub-website "Better Extension/Global Good Practices". It calls up a differnt tempalte and has a special search module to go with it that searched only in the sub-website. The last item links back to the main website.

Community Builder

A default menu installe by Community Builder. Some of the items are repeated in the user menus (see blewo).

Compendium

A special menu for the RAS Policy Compendium sub-website. It calls up a different tempalte ans has a special search moduel like Better Extension. The last item links back to the main website.

Content Menu en & es & fr

The three language versions of the main menu of the main website. The follow this structure:

- Activities
Projects, working areas and themes where GFRAS is active in. In some places actual product of these activies are linked in as submenus.

- Knowledge
Repository of resources: downloadable documents, databases etc. Here also the resources of the sub-websites show up.

- Community
Everything that is related to persons and networks (affiliates and members in GFRAS language). The main page here is also the landing page after the login and displays a stream of different news channels.

- Events
GFRAS Annual Meetings and other Events

The rest of these menu is self-explicatory.

Note: All items in the three languages are connected to their siblings in the other two languages (Associations).

Compendium Hidden Menu

This menu serves as a structrual fill-in that allows the sub-website "Policy Compendium" to disply the correct breadcrumbs for the Countries section. The frist menu item makes the link to the main compendium menu. The menu is not linked to a module and hence not visible on the frontend.

-> obsolete with the move to the subdomain compendium.g-fras.org
