Eventos paralelos

Organisers:

FAO

Date, time, place:

Monday, 22 October, 08.30 – 12.30, RDA Building, Jeonju

Description:

Traditional agricultural extension and advisory service systems can no longer meet the needs and address challenges faced by agriculture and rural people. There is therefore a compelling need to transform them into pluralistic, demand-led and market-orientated systems. To achieve this goal, FAO works closely with GFRAS and other relevant actors at global and national level. In the context of this partnership, FAO is developing the Assessment Methodologies for Agricultural Extension and Advisory Service Systems. The Assessment Methodologies aim at supporting countries in conducting a comprehensive and multi-dimensional analysis of the complex and heterogeneous rural advisory services in view of fostering innovation to achieve sustainable agriculture and rural development goals.The GFRAS Annual Meeting side event would be a unique occasion to gather GFRAS members and partners to present the first draft of the methodology.

Objectives:

  • Validation of the draft by the partners;
  • Increase ownership of the Assessment Methodologies for Agricultural Extension and Advisory Service Systems;
  • To get concrete feedback and suggestions on the first draft of the Assessment Methodologies in order to improve it and present it to a wider range of stakeholders at the FAO Agricultural Innovation Symposium for Family Farmers.
