How to attract young people to RAS?

ypard logoThe young generation has to solve many of the current global issues and will have to face new ones. Therefore, young professionals working in extension and rural advisory services should be paid greater attention and provided an opportunity to share their experiences and voice their concerns. GFRAS has joined with the Young Professionals' Platform for Agricultural Research for Development YPARD to organise an e-discussion on "Extension/advisory services and young professionals". Register for the 2nd GFRAS Annual Meeting!

The 2nd GFRAS Annual Meeting 2012 will take place 13-14 November in Nairobi, Kenya. Four current issues in RAS will be discussed: networking, evaluation, capacity strengthening, and advocacy for RAS. Results will feed in the GFRAS plan 2012. Registration is open until September 9. Find more information, the programme and registration are available here.

Asia and Pacific Islands

APIRAS is holding a "Regional Forum on Strengthening Rural Advisory Services in Asia and the Pacific Islands" on September 14-15. One of its main aims is to give APIRAS a more formalized structure.

Latin American and Caribbean

The Latin America and Caribbean Network on Extension will hold its second meeting in Managua, Nicaragua, on September 26-28. It is a preliminary stage to bring context and proposals for extension services in Latin America and the Caribbean to be presented at different levels on the continent and beyond, particularly in the International Conference which will take place in Nairobi on November 2011. Please register by August 30.

Central Asia and Caucasian Countries

"Monitoring and Evaluation of AAS activities, for learning and impact" is the title of the 2nd regional CACC meeting taking place in Khujand, Tajikistan, on October 4-6 2011. The meeting will bring together the organisations and institutions of the agricultural innovation system and foster an exchange of experience and knowledge.

 

 

European Seminar on Extension Education

"Private - public partnerships for advisory services in Europe"  is the main heading of the 20th European Seminar on Extension Education ESEE. The purpose is to present the new innovations which have done around Europe and the connecting countries to the farmers.

Innovative Approaches for Agricultural Knowledge Management

An international conference by the International Society of Extension Education INSEE. The primary objectives are to facilitate the deliberation and confluence of ideology and experiences in order to understand, develop and share innovative knowledge management strategies for agricultural development.

International Conference “Innovations in Extension and Rural Advisory Services”

GFRAS Annual Meeting, the International Conference “Innovations in Extension and Rural Advisory Services” will be held 15-18 November in Nairobi, Kenya. The event takes stock of current policies, thinking and practice, successes and failures of ongoing and past reforms in extension and advisory services and build a coalition moving forward to specifically address meeting the future needs of small-holder farmers, marginalized communities, women and youth in a sustainable and cost effective manner.
