Improved Extension Evaluation Initiative
To further enhance the contribution RAS can make to rural livelihoods, it is essential to monitor and evaluate RAS achievements within complex rural settings, and to engage in a lesson learning process with a wide range of stakeholders and organisations. Therefore GFRAS is engaged in collecting and sharing knowledge and tools for monitoring and evaluation.
So far the evaluation initiative under GFRAS has produced a Review of Literature on Evaluation Methods Relevant to Extension and a Meta-evaluation of Extension Case Studies.
These materials were used to develop a guide for extension evaluation that aims at explaining the particular challenges of extension evaluation as well as providing pointers for how to practically address these challenges.
A draft version of the guide will be tested in the field in 2011, refined, packaged, and translated into French and Spanish.
